Not a bad week...

CLASSROOM POCKET ROCKETS:
so I just got my scores back from my first exams (Biology and Chemistry). Seeing as how I haven't taken a serious Science course since high school circa 1997, I did fairly well. I thought I would do better on my Bio exam than on my Chem one since I prepared much more for the Bio one (ridiculous amounts of information) but, as it turns out, I aced BOTH those bad boys, hence the header of this column (for the Poker illiterate, this is the best starting hand in Texas Holdem, AA). But in terms of the percentages, I did better on my Chem exam than on my Bio. I probably have to thank first and foremost, my AP Chem teacher, Ms. Camasta, for forcing me to do all of those mole problems and to remember those strange polyatomic ions. Whoever said AP Chem wouldn't help you out later on in life. So 2 tests down, 80 million more to go (tears rolling down cheeks)...

I FOUGHT THE LAW....AND.......I WON:
I just attended a court hearing today representing my mom against the City of Chicago regarding an alleged parking violation and "towing tax" that my mom was forced to pay. She parked our car in a metered spot that had a very unclear marked NO PARKING sign to the right of it and our car was towed. To make a long story short, I argued in court that this sign is vague and ambiguous and that my mom was not in violation of any parking code. Of course, the judge ruled in our favor and ordered the city to repay us the towing money we originally paid to them. I would first like to thank my good friend Jeff Yang for assisting me in creating my photo exhibits that I used in court. Even though I had previous experience with contesting a City of Chicago ticket (by mail) I received years ago, I was frantically preparing all of my photo evidence the night before and stayed up late preparing my argument and making sure I had all the right documentation. It was very eerie in a way, like I was back as an indentured legal servant at Jenner & Block in some unknown case room going through documents and not knowing if the sun or moon was out. Whoever thought being a legal assistant and going through trial preparation would pay off later on down the road. Anywho, I didn't even need to speak that much in court since the photo exhibits did most of the talking for me. That now makes it Jonar 2, City of Chicago 0.
